Clayoquot Sound, Vancouver Island. |
My name is Geoff Palmer and I'm a sea kayaker who lives in Fremantle, Western Australia.
This Blog reflects my personal journey in sea kayaking and travel.
I first started kayaking in 1994, when I completed the Avon Descent, in a plastic 415 kayak.
Injury forced me from the sport, but a few years ago my wife and I were on an overseas holiday and the scenery of fjord, mountains and islands, tempted me back into a double kayak. All went well, and whilst I have greatly modified my paddling technique to manage my injury, I am now paddling regularly.
Sea kayaking is my passion and living in Fremantle gives me the opportunity to paddle on either the ocean or the Swan River, both within a ten minute drive of my home. I have been paddling a P&H Scorpio, which has given great service, but I have just taken delivery of a Valley Kayaks Etain.
I have paddled overseas in Seward, Alaska, and on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Recently, my wife Gill and I returned from a six day trip in Clayoquot Sound, which is detailed in the blog.
